And to show that I was completely fair in the random selection…here is a pic of the spreadsheet used and the random number generator. Sorry I didn’t snap a pic of the first #, which was 39. 🙂
Welcome! To those of you who are NEW to my blog…thanks for checking it out! Over the next several weeks I’ll be posting images from the last few months of 2012 as well as recent 2013 sessions. A few personal posts will be mixed in as well as I love for my clients to get to know me better and vice versa. So let’s get 2013 started off right with a little giveaway and conversation about one of my favorites things…TRAVEL!
Over the past few years, I’ve been able to travel to some amazing places. Some personal, some business…either way, I’m up for it! From Maui to Minnesota or Seattle to Spain, I’d love to shoot more weddings and fill up those passport pages. 🙂 On tap for 2013 so far? Sacramento, Tahoe, Mexico and Italy! If you have the travel bug like me, you’ve probably thought of your dream vacation or even the ideal location for your own destination wedding. Here’s my challenge to you…well, not really a challenge since it should be pretty easy…tell me your dreamiest, most ideal destination wedding location. Think about it for a minute… A tropical locale with warm weather and cold drinks? A castle in the mountains of Europe? A rooftop ceremony in the city? You tell me! All you need to do is add a COMMENT to THIS blog post. Already married? No problem! Tell me your ideal spot for a vow renewal! THOSE THAT COMMENT ON THIS BLOG POST will be entered into a raffle for a FREE MINI SESSION to take place in February or March AND a $25 Sprinkles Cupcakes Gift Card. The drawing will be random, but don’t spare any details in your comments…tell me where you’d love to go AND why! And someday maybe we can make that dream come true!!
Here’s a recap of the rules:
1. Anyone can enter! Single, engaged, married…anyone!
2. Think of the ONE place you’d love to travel to for your DESTINATION WEDDING OR VOW RENEWAL. Be creative…do you want to get married at one of those hotels made of ice? Love it!
3. Share that destination in a COMMENT BELOW and tell me why you chose that particular location. PLEASE make sure to include your EMAIL address in your comment.
4. ONE entry per person.
5. TWO winners will be randomly chosen next Wednesday, the 16th!
I can’t wait to read all of these!! 🙂
I’ve always imagined getting married with our toes in the sand (and maybe even ankle deep water) of the clearest bluest ocean you have ever seen. Over-water huts peeking out as the background to this dream location. Bora Bora, Tahiti, Maldives, I’m not picky. As long as I’m there marrying my best friend, it will be perfection.
Great giveaway, Megan!! If I could renew my vows, I would do it in Mallorca, Spain. It is a little island on the Mediterranean, and it has everything I love – beach, cathedrals, castles! We went there for our honeymoon, and I would love to go back!
After 41 plus years of marriage I have thought about renewing our vows on a cruise vacation! Rueben and i adore cruising and I thought it would be so fun to travel to the caribbean with all our family and friends and get married all over again on a warm sandy beach! Being the eternal planner that I am, planning all the events onboard would be so much fun!!
I know it’s not the most original idea, but definitely Italy. My husband and I had the best vacation of our lives there, and it would be the most amazing place to do a vow renewal…
It would have to be beautiful Ireland! Love the site Megan, I wish you all the success in the world!
Megan!!! Congrats on the new site it’s fabulous! I am so excited for your contest. Last year we took maternity shots in June and I’m still raving about them 🙂 as you know Adrian and I got married last year but couldn’t afford a reception. I always dreamt of a wedding in a Spanish mansion overlooking the city view with all my friends and family. However I know Adrian only dreams of Fiji. He is a hardworking loving father and if I had that chance I would give him his tropical dream. He goes on and on about this underwater hotel. Partying with the fishes isn’t such a bad dream 🙂 If we win I would love to have the mini session for our official family portrait 🙂 crossing my fingers and making Adrian less photophobic!
Krabi beach in Thailand. The most beautiful location with amazing food and people. The ultimate getaway.
LOVE the new website!!!
This is going to sound cheesy and a little cliche but I have always thought it would be cool to do a vowel renewal in Las Vegas. My husband and I met there in 2007 and we also got engaged there so there are a lot of fun memories there! I picture a small ceremony with our family and then we hit a nice dinner and show in the evening. Haha, maybe someday!
For a vow renewal? I would love to go to one of the beautiful beaches of Ecuador where Jon spent some of his childhood days and have our vows renewed there. I’ve never been there, and I think that with his history there, it would be a great place to be together 🙂
I would love to have a vow renewal in hawaii in Maui on the beach, I would love to wear a beautiful flowy lacey dress.
My husband and I are celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary this year. I would love to travel to Bali which is where we met back in 2000. Perhaps take our kids to show them where it all began! My big big dream would be to have all our family and friends there for a vow renewel.
Jmh
I imagine if we had a destination wedding, it would probably be on one of the small islands of Hawaii on a quiet secluded beach surrounded with crystal clear ocean, warm sunshine, and brightly colored tropical flowers. It would be absolutely gorgeous! In any case, we’ll definitely be going there on our honeymoon! 🙂 I can’t wait!
If I had the money/chance to renew my vows, I would love to do it in Cappadocia, Turkey. If you google cappadocia + hot air ballon, you’ll know what I’m talking about.
It would be perfect on a hot air ballon overlooking the sunset….however, my husband is not fond of heights. oh well! =T
Australia because I’ve always wanted to go there and see the crazy marine life beyond anywhere else.
A few years ago we visited Bali. If I were to pick a place for vow renewals, I would want to go back there! The vibrant green of the rice patties next to the turquoise ocean would make for some amazing pictures! Plus you can live like a queen for pennies! An hour long massage was just 7 US dollars!
Mike & I never took a Honeymoon until our 6 year wedding anniversary. We went to Maui & fell in love. We told the kids we would try to all go back for our 10 year & renew our vows so our kids could be present. Fingers crossed we can still do that. Just us and our kids on the beach. It would be so amazing 🙂
I would renew vows behind the waterfall at Silver Creek Falls. I am sure that I could convince Chris…maybe by our 25th. 🙂
What a great way to reminisce being married to my best friend! I think the perfect vow renewal location would be somewhere beautiful in the college town where we met- CHICO!!! There’s something magical about going back to the exact place you fell in love to reconnect with those feelings that never leave a marriage, but sometimes get pushed to the side when life gets too busy. Okay, now I want to make this happen!!!!
I’m going to Fiji!!! I got to go there once with Adam after we were engaged and it was the most amazing place on earth. I loved the people and the simplicity of their lives. Some day I’ll go back. Scuba diving in the morning, relaxing on the beach, sleeping in our little bure. Ahhh, someday.
I’d love to renew my vows on the sandy beach of Bali with my beautiful kiddos by side. Kelliee4@cox.net
We would love to renew our vows in Tahiti where we spent our honeymoon! Those overwater bungalows are amazing and it felt like a once in a lifetime trip! We’d love to relive it all over again.
Love the new website Megan!! I know we are only recently married BUT in the future if we did a vow renewal it would be amazing to take our family and friends to the Greek Islands! Specifically Santorini!! We had an amazing honeymoon there and it would be fun to share it with the people that mean the most to us! 🙂
If we are shooting for the stars here I would love to have one of those 3 day long weddings in a castle or large estate in Europe (Italy, France, UK, etc) and have all my guest/family stay and do fun things all weekend long. Drama, History, Culture, Love and of course AMAZING photography! 😉
So this is a tough one for me because I love that we got married in Lake Tahoe. We were half way up Heavenly over looking the lake and snow capped mountains!! It was a dream location for the both of us and loved every minute of it!! My second choice would be taking our closest friends and family to Costa Rica and renew our vows with our toes in the sand!!
Our wedding (12 years ago–can you believe it?) was very traditional. Church ceremony, backyard reception–Kerry graciously supported all my decisions, even if they weren’t the choices he would have made. When we eventually renew our vows, I’d like it to be in a setting that’s true to Kerry’s personality–in the woods or on a mountain, just the two of us or maybe with our girls as well. We got engaged in London and married in California, so I would love to renew our vows somewhere local to Seattle, to celebrate this beautiful area where we met, fell in love, and are now raising our family.
If i could get married anywhere and price WASNT an issue!!! To stick with my Scottish heritage, I would love to get married during the fall in a old castle In Scotland! Like the ones your see in the movies that you have to take a long gravel road and cross a bridge to get to! And it just sits there among the green rolling hills. And of course It wouldn’t be the same with out our entire family and closest friends there to celebrate with us and we start the beginning of our lives together. As our guest approach bagpipes will the play the sweet tunes of Amazing Grace. My dad will walk me down the aisle to Cannon D witch played at my parents wedding 30 years ago!! My dad would be so excited to wear his kilt custom designed from our “Knox” family crest. Hopefully some day me and my future hubby will get to take a trip there! 🙂
Your site looks amazing Megan! Love everything about it and how fresh it is 🙂 I LOVE Italy the most of my abroad travels; the authenticity, the architecture, the rich art & history… and let’s not forget about the gelato! Then I met and married Andy… and found out his bone marrow donor is from Milan. My dream is to renew our wedding vows in Italy {Rome would be exquisite} and then meet the man who saved Andy’s life. I hope your travels in the coming year are plentiful!!! I will live vicariously through your beautiful pictures!
I’d have to go with a beach vow renewal. We didn’t have a lot of money when we got married so we have always dreamed of throwing a grand party for our families and friends to celebrate. White sand and warm water required!
Years before jake and I were married we went on a small trip to CO on this trip we were hiking through the aspen trees when I stopped him to tell him how much I loved him and that we were going to be celebrating his next birthday on the island of Ibiza Spain. I had set it all up including requesting his time off of work. The trip there was amazing experiencing this amount of travel with a significant other is beyond words you truly see how well you fit together. We had massages and learned archery, went on night adventures to the worlds largest club and went on a boat to a nude mud bath island. We were the only Americans at the resort and within days everyone knew us and at the end of the trip we even won an award for archery. I would love to renew our vows on the walls of the old military base there it has breathtaking views and if I could pick the time of year it would again be in July during their amazing fireworks displays. Just thinking about going back makes my heart explode with happiness! Ha sorry so long I totally got caught up with the memories!
Ooooh oooh oooh, pick me! Baby #3 in my belly needs pictures and my belly needs cupcakes! We had the most amazing honeymoon that ended in Bora Bora and Greg said we would go back in 5 years. Every year we are married he says maybe 10 years, 15 years, etc. So when we renew our vows at about 95 years old, I would love to do it there. (:
Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica all the way!!!! Renewal or wedding. Costa Rica is calm, peaceful and beautiful!!!
My absolute dream Dream DREAM wedding location is easy: Carrick-A-Rede Rope Bridge, Northern Ireland. I lived in N Ireland for a month before my Junior year of high school. Being my first independent trip (I went on a missions trip without knowing a soul), it seems so apropos for my dream wedding location. What is particularly stunning about this spot is that there is a (teeny-tiny very withered) rope bridge which spans about 100 feet above treacherousness rocks. Literally tight rope walking 65 feet would truly be a test of commitment to someone 🙂 I’m pretty sure none of my guests would be complaining about partying in the local castle too! Plus, can Northern Ireland be any more gorgeous in the summertime?
In Texas on a ranch with beautiful scenery… My first wedding was in oceanside, ca and was very small and beachy. I am originally from Texas and want my vow renewal to be romantic with a big country party. it is how i always saw my first wedding.
I love this question! I would love to get married in Yosemite! I love the scenery there. The trees, the waterfalls, the clean, crisp air! It would be a perfect destination wedding!
Great giveaway! If we were to do a destination renewal of our vows, I’d love to have it done at a forest or in the mountains – like Idyllwild, the Redwoods, or perhaps one of the New England states in the fall 🙂
I would get married on top of the Capitol Records building in Hollywood and then have the reception at the Kodak Theater while cover band Tainted Love plays 80s hits and Cirque Du Soleil puts on an a show themed to the movies of John Hughes.
Me and Zooey would be so happy on our special day…
You did say “dream” wedding, right?
We got married on the beach in Del Mar almost 8 years ago. So for a vow renewal I think it would be fun to get married in the snow. We love visiting family in Tahoe so that would be an amazing place to get hitched…again. The pics would be a great contrast from our current wedding pics of the sand, water and sunny skies.
The most romantic place to celebrate the beginning of our new life would be Bora bora, weather is relaxing in a bungalow over the water or laying on the white, soft warm sand being able to swim in that turquoise water and having a clear view of all the colorful tropical fish.
Things we would to do:
1.Snorkeling
2.Canoe tour
3.Feed stingray
4.Eat as much as possible
5.Do a little shopping ( just a little)
6.Spa date
7. Enjoy our selves 🙂
We heart you Megan,
See you June 14, 2013
I would love to renew our vows in Australia. Matt and I were engaged when we traveled to the great barrier reef and stayed on a beautiful little island called Hamilton. There was an adorable church nestled on the hill that over looked the bay. Matt and I had a crazy idea to just get married there and not tell anyone…well we found out this place is extremely popular and we would have had to wait for 18 months to get married in that little church. It all worked out anyways and had a blast in Coronado with Phil’s, fire trucks and amazing people.
