Welcome

You may have noticed things have changed around here! After 3+ years of building my photography business, I decided it was time to take things to the next level. I wanted my brand to reflect more of who I am and the kind of work that makes me so excited to get up in the morning. I hired B!G DEAL BRANDING because I trust them. It’s as simple as that. They are the BEST at what they do and I never had any doubts about their ability to guide me through this process. I felt having people on my team who really understood me was crucial to getting this right. We buckled down for four months, combing through the ins and outs of my business, my dreams and what makes me tick and out came this refreshing new identity that I couldn’t be more proud to own.

I’m so glad you’re here to celebrate with me! My hope is that you feel loved, valued and a little giddy when you scroll through the site. Thanks again for all the support throughout the years! I couldn’t do it without you!

Shane + Joey = Married! {Bainbridge Island, WA}

When you combine shooting a wedding with traveling to one of your favorite places and are accompanied by dear friends, it makes for a dream weekend. My loves of travel, the Northwest and photography were all present at Shane & Joey’s wedding this past August. Shane and I go way back to our college days at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, WA. From there we’ve been roommates in San Diego and traveled to far off places such as New York and France. We share loves of travel and sports…in particular, March Madness. She’s my go-to girl for reminiscing during “One Shining Moment” and even shared my obsession admiration of the Oregon Ducks Joey Harrington many moons ago. Should I get started on her infatuation with N*Sync?? Okay, maybe I’ll leave that one out. Of all the memories we’ve shared, the last few years are the ones I’m most excited about and the ones that culminated into the day she became Mrs. Miramontez.

Joey is the perfect match for Shane and their wedding weekend was nothing short of incredible. They brought in all of their closest family and friends to a location that can easily be described as “summer camp for adults”. IslandWood is an outdoor education center nestled in a woodsy forest on Bainbridge Island, which is just across the Sound from Downtown Seattle. We all stayed in cabins for the weekend and were spoiled with ridiculously amazing food, gorgeous sunny weather and good friends all around. And it was all for Shane & Joey who wouldn’t have had it any other way. I know it meant SO much to them to have all the important people in their lives be there and I am so thankful that I got to be a part of it as well.

I also need to give a big shout out to Sean Thompson who was my 2nd shooter for the day. I had reached out to him via Twitter in the months before the wedding and finally met him as soon as I arrived in Seattle. Turns out that he is a part of the Big Deal Branding team that I had JUST signed on with to help me with my super duper re-brand and new website. Small world, right?? Sean – thank you for shooting with me and hopefully we can team up again soon!!

Okay, enough of my rambling…let’s get to the good stuff!

Baby Charlotte

Fall is always a busy time of year for holiday family photos. I’m not sure what it is about 2012, but it’s also been a busy time for babies!! I never know what to expect when walking into a house for a newborn session. Within a week to ten days is the idea time for a sleepy baby, but with the pressure of their first modeling gig, you never know how it’s gonna go. 😉 Baby Charlotte, however, was my perfect model. She slept and slept and slept. And paired with the décor of mom and dad’s house, we had a great session. Thank you Janice and Justin for having me take Charlotte’s first photos!! XOXO

Oh the places you’ll go…

A perk of owning your own business is the ability to make your own schedule. This means working many weekends and sometimes holidays, but it also lends the opportunity to travel the world. And being able to shoot weddings abroad? That’s something I can’t wait to do more of! I’ve been lucky enough to shoot weddings in Hawaii, San Francisco, Seattle, Arizona, Minnesota and Spain. I’m excited to see what the future holds for destination weddings and personal travel as well. In the meantime, here are some photos of my favorite spots so far…Paris, Spain and Maui. See you soon!!

Jamie, Matt and Annabelle {San Diego, CA}

Time goes by so fast. Just over a year ago, you saw Jamie and Matt on the blog when they were expecting, and then not long after, Annabelle’s newborn photos. This little family has been such a blessing in my life and can’t wait to share these with you. We’ve been friends for a very long time and pretty much consider them family. Annabelle is just over a year old and she is a beautiful and expressive little lady. And those eyes?? I swear I’m not enhancing them at all with any fancy photoshop tricks…they are really that blue!

We ventured down to Balboa Park for their session and then devoured some of the best food I’ve ever eaten at Cucina Urbana afterwards. Jamie & Matt…let’s do that again soon, mmm k??

Felicia + Joel = Engaged! {San Diego, CA}

Engaged couples are pretty high on my list of favorite people to take photos of. They are always so happy, so in love and make my job so easy. This was definitely the case with Felicia and Joel. I met these two at church and they have such a great love story. It all began when Joel worked at a car dealership with Felicia’s mom. Felicia came into the dealership one day and after he saw her, Joel told Felicia’s mom that he was going to marry Felicia someday. Jokingly, of course, but it turned out that he was right! He had to wait a few years to ask her out, but she said yes and the rest is history. Though I won’t be a part of their wedding day in April, I’m thrilled that I got the chance to spend time with them and share their love with you!
